The Internship.  // This summer, as a part of my education at Moody Bible Institute and training in the Youth Ministry Major, I’m required to complete an internship.  After much searching and trying, I’ve applied and have been accepted to be an intern at Antioch Church (www.antiochchurch.org) in Bend, Oregon.  I’m very excited to be included in what God is doing in their college ministry, Paradox. As an intern with Paradox l will be responsible for sharing my life with the young adult community in Bend, OR. There, we seek to ask hard questions, serve God truthfully and share life honestly.  I will also play a vital part in the community by helping with:

  1. Worship. This may include leading worship, producing Powerpoint content and slides, contacting and delegating other musicians, organizing song choices, incorporation and integration of other methods of worship (art, videography, visual and audio graphics), and practice.
  2. Speaking/Teaching. Writing and delivering a minimum of seven (7) HBLT/Stanley lesson plans along with full Inductive Bible Studies and Interpretive Method reports.
  3. Discipleship and Spiritual Formation. Meeting one-on-one throughout the week with multiple college students, adults, and other team members to worship together, encourage each other, empower and challenge one another into deeper, more intimate relationship with Jesus Christ.  This includes hearing and working through each personal life story, investing emotionally and spiritually in them, and discovering ways and methods of promoting their growth.  This area, of them all, is least quantifiable but easily requires the most intentionality and complete investment.
  4. Community outreach. May include anything  from relational to organizational outreach. [Relationally] – Developing relationships within the community: at coffeeshops, stores, venues, restaurants, etc.  We aim to value people of the community as God created them to be valued.  Through this, we seek to associate the name of Jesus with our actions and our words, sharing the gospel both verbally and behaviorally.  It is intentional outreach.  [Organizationally] – Establishing communication and collaboration with community contacts and working together with and alongside them to help them better reach their goals and vision.  Our goal is not to replace them, compete with them, or try to mimic the work they are already doing; it is to join them, and to do so for the sake of the gospel.
  5. Organization and event planning. These are the logistics.  This means meeting with leaders, pastors, and staff to organize and delegate resources and members to assigned tasks or needs.

Support.  //  For many college students, the summer provides an opportunity to earn and save money to help pay for living expenses for that summer and school in the coming fall.  This internship, however, is not a paid internship.  Furthermore, as an intern, I am not permitted to hold a second job while taking my internship as a measure of ensuring that my time and attention are wholly focused on the ministry I am doing in Bend, which—unfortunately—severely limits my resources.  In addition, due to unfortunate family circumstances, my parents have reached the end of their ability to financially assist me in my studies.

This summer, I will be in need of your prayers and support.  As always, your prayers for the ministry I am doing are inexpressibly valuable to me, and this internship is no exception.  With every opportunity you have, please pray for me and for the people in Bend.  Pray that Jesus is seen in my actions and heard in my words.  Pray that the love we have for people and for Christ would be radiant.  Regarding financial support, I need to raise $2,000 for this summer’s 9-week, full-time, college ministry internship.  This support would help me to cover all of the personal costs, living costs, ministry costs, and transportation to and from Oregon involved between now and August.  I hope that you would take this as an opportunity to invest in my life and to be a part of what God is doing in Oregon this summer!

Thank you so much to those who are supporting me and making this possible:
